November 2023 AHE Newsletter
Dear AHE Families,
The beginning of November marks the end of my first year as Principal of Arrow Heights Elementary. It has been an amazing year of “Firsts” as I have learned about the passions and traditions of the AHE community. I’d like to send out a big THANK You for the supportive nature of all staff, students and families! I’m looking forward to year two!
Additional thanks to all of you for participating in the Goal Setting Conferences last week as students, teachers, and care givers spent some time planning the next steps in learning. Teachers are now working on assessments and will soon start working on our first written progess profiles that will go out to families on December 15.
The cold weather is upon us, and while we are enjoying the sunny autumn days, it won’t be long before winter is here. Please dress your students for the outdoors as our classes will continue to learn and play outside.
If you or someone you know is struggling with rising costs, please reach out as we are happy to provide assistance in making sure that everyone has warm winter clothing. Also, if anyone has extra snowpants destined for the thrift store, we will happy accept docations for our lending bin!
It’s another busy and productive month coming up! Thanks to all AHE families for their caring and enthusiasm!
Sincerely,
Pam Mair

Annual Cares Charity Drive:
This year the STUDENT LEADERSHIP has chosen to support The Revelstoke Women’s Shelter, and the Revelstoke Community Foundations as charities for their fundraising activities. There will be many opportunities throughout the year to support these worthy causes. On morning announcements, students who recently were recognized for meeting the school code of conduct are provided an opportunity to pay their Cares Cards forward to one of these charities. Stay tuned for various fundraising opportunities coming throughout the year.
Digital Citizenship:
One of our school-wide goals for 2023-24 is to encourage digital citizenship for intermediates and screen smarts for primaries. During school hours, we encourage students to leave cell phones at home. If they must bring their phone to school, it is an expectation that it remains in their locker. This month, our grade 6 and 7 students will be engaging in workshops surrounding online safety and digital citizenship, including a workshop for parents. Stay tuned for upcoming information.
Greetings from the PAC!
Welcome November! October just seemed to fly by but was a busy month for PAC.
First, our Thanksgiving Pie Day thanks to Save-on- Foods for the donation of 38 pies. We also hosted the schools Scholastic Book Fair. We want to send out a big thank you to all the adults that volunteered their time over the three days and thank you to all the families who purchased books; we raised over $1900 for the school. Which is amazing!!!
It is now time to look forward to November and perhaps some snow! PAC is planning a lunch on November 17th, look for info in your child’s planner soon. Also, it’s time to start thinking about those Christmas crafts for the Christmas craft fair on December 15th. If you need any ideas check out AHE PAC Instagram page @ ahe_pac or our new Facebook page Arrow Heights Elementary PAC for ideas. Also look for our Purdy’s Chocolates fundraiser coming soon. Our next PAC meeting is November 6th at 6:30. All welcome and childcare is provided. See you all in the AHE Library on Monday at 630.
